Mexican milkweed (Asclepias curassavica) is much easier to grow than our native butterfly milkweed.  It is an excellent plant for school gardens.  The seed are easy for children to plant and the butterflies are fun to watch.  The milkweed shown here is growing in front of a sea of narrowleaf mountain mint in the garden of Bill and Lydia Fontenot in Carencro, Louisiana.
