In spring our shade garden is full of texture and color. Louisiana phlox (Phlox divaricata) begins blooming in winter and continues for about six weeks. The Barrett Browing daffodils behind the phlox have finished flowering. Dainty lemon yellow 'Hawera' daffodils are still in full bloom. 'Hawera' blooms better in shade than any other daf I've tried. The yellow trillium adjacent to 'Hawera' was rescued from an area about to be clear cut.
