Boona

We first met Boona when our friend KC came to visit. KC insisted on bringing her new puppy. The puppy (Ursaluna) was reportedly half Border Collie and half Chow. Boona immediately fit right into the pack. She and Woody became fast friends. They looked very beautiful running through the woods - the light and the dark, the yin and the yang, etc.  When it was time for KC to go home, she insisted that we keep Boona. We really didn't want another dog but KC wouldn't take "No" for an answer.

Boona and Woody have remained best friends. They are rarely apart. Each morning they roam the woods and return wet and nasty after many adventures. Since they are the "big dogs", the two of them must sometimes stay in the dog pen. Dog Boy recently decided that he was a big dog too. He plans to bond with Boon and Woody to vote Malva and Tater off the island.

Boona is very protective. During winter we often have bonfires on the back part of our propeBoona, Woody and Tater guard the perimeter.rty. Boona's job is to lie on the front porch and guard the house. She also stays near me the whole time I'm mowing the back forty. She knows that I'm not very bright and that she must keep watch in case I hurt myself. Boona is pictured below in her "watch dog mode". She is guarding the north perimeter. Woody has the east and Tater the south. Hopefully no monsters will come from the west.

Boon is very beautiful. She appears to be black at first glance. In certain kinds of light she looks auburn or gray. She inherited a long pointed Collie nose and purple spotted Chow tongue. Her white shiny teeth really stand out in her dark face when she snarls.

Boona is one of the last dogs to eat. When everyone else is finished, she guards the food bowl (with bared teeth) for the next couple of hours. She's usually not very hungry. She just wants to be in charge of the food bowl for a while.

Boona is our best watch dog. She has a fierce bark and is never shy about showing her sharp pointy teeth. She is always the first to notice when company comes or when strangers walk down the street.
