Aphrodite is a variety of shrub althea or rose of Sharon (Hibiscus syriacus) introduced by the National Arboretum.  It has exceptionally large flowers and an extremely long season of bloom.

Seed production is rare or non-existent so seedlings do not populate the landscape.
